- Combine great Literature with writing and analysis
- The Lost Tools of Writing is a year-long program that covers the persuasive essay.
- We will gradually work through 8 essays as we read through six books, with each essay building on on the last. The primary focus is learning to write persuasively – stating a thesis and defending it. We start very simple, and, as we build skills and learn various stylistic techniques, move toward a well-organized full persuasive essay.
- Each essay will be reviewed and given specific feedback – what was good, and what can be improved.
- Literature includes Greek Mythology, The Iliad, The Odyssey, Beowulf, The Tempest (William Shakespeare), and Out of the Silent Planet (C.S Lewis).
